The 5-Ingredient Snack Bar My Kids Grab Themselves
easy cereal bars
Kids snacks are the single easiest way to blow the grocery budget at our house. My kids can demolish a box of anything before I've put the groceries away. These 5-ingredient cereal bars have genuinely helped — they're filling because of the fats, they live in a spot the kids can reach themselves, and I make them once and they're just there.
I made this recipe awhile ago when I was working on a new ebook (before I moved everything to Substack), but I want to note the generosity of Lovebird cereal brand. No this is not sponsored, I just really appreciate their mission, and it happens to be my kids favorite cereal. (They love every flavor. It’s hard to pick but strawberry may be my favorite. Thrive Market usually has it at the cheapest price.)
Last year, I replied to one of their stories that I wish we could switch our kids ministry and preschool snacks to Lovebird instead of the traditional snacks we were using. The owner replied “I got you.” and mailed me a GIANT box of cereal to take to our children’s ministry. They are family owned and really care about the food quality in our country right now. I think we see so much negativity with companies now that I wanted to highlight a great small, family owned company. (To be clear my Instagram account is TINY, so they would have no motivation for me to give them a shout out.)
