Putting my pantry on autoship
a time and money saving strategy for dietary restriction moms
Hear me out: this is a service that I have bought and paid for myself for years now, but I think it is suuuuper helpful to moms with dietary restrictions in the family. I have a referral code but no other affiliation with the brand. I just think that having the right strategy is where you will save the most money and time. I know a lot of people start a membership and then say “I don’t know what to buy.”
Here’s how to make the most of a Thrive Market membership.
I want you to go through your pantry and see what you regularly buy. If you have a Costco membership, some items like oils could be cheaper there, so keep that in mind.
Make a list of everything you like to have on hand and then turn that list into an autoship list. They will send you multiple reminders and you can quickly run through your list to see if you need that item. You aren’t have to search the entire store every single time to place an order. The ship date is flexible if you want to move it up or extend it. A lot of items on autoship will save you an extra 5%.
Also— if you’re a teacher or first responder, look into a free membership. I don’t know all the details but give it a try here.
Let start with baking.
If you’re gluten free, it’s hard to find a better price on specialty flours than Thrive Market. Below are some suggestions from my own list:
I find that maple syrup, coconut oil, avocado oil and olive oil are all cheaper at Costco, but I buy my specialty flours and baking items from there. The Thrive Brand honey is one my favorite flavored honeys. It is thick and creamy.
My kids favorite nut free snacks for school are GoMacro bars in any favor, Seven Sundays cereal (Maple is our favorite flavor), Lesser Evil popcorn, and Thrive Market grain free puffs, potato chips, veggie sticks, and plantain chips.
Go through your pantry and make a list of what you like to keep on hand. Don’t neglect bulk spices. You can save a significant amount here by autoshipping spices. Apple cider vinegar, cooking oil sprays, tomato paste, seasonings, garlic paste, coconut aminos, and sesame oils are some others that I enjoy having on hand.
If you’re gluten free, Jovial brand pasta is my favorite. I have tried soooo many brands over the last 14 years and my family has voted this brand the winner. They have grain free options as well if you need that, but I like the gluten free versions the best. I like to have the stelline on hand for pastina soup as well as the fusseli.
I’ve found that I can save a ton on condiments unless there is an in store sale going on. SideDish is a great one to get from Thrive Market because it’s only sold in select stores. You’ll save on shipping buying from Thrive. Primal Kitchens ketchup is a staple with my kids and I’ve found it to be the cheapest as well.
My husband likes their sunflower seeds, Bull Dog brand products, soap and we get items like bandaids and some supplements as well. They have a fairly good toiletry and home cleaning section. I like their Rosey dish pods and soap for washing dishes.
Lastly, I get paper products there. I always line my baking sheets with If You Care parchment paper. It makes clean up a lot easier and extends the life of your bakeware. Their coffee filters and baking cups are great too because it’s unbleached paper cutting down on the chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
I hope this was helpful to give you some ideas on how to save time, waste and money with this service. These are all my own thoughts on how I’ve used Thrive Market for the past couple of years to maximize savings on better for you and specialty grocery items.
